Garbage Guru City of Sydney's ultimate guide to recycling and disposing of stuff.

  • Put in your Garden Organics Bin

This is your bin with the green lid. Use it for any garden organics including small branches, leaves and grass clippings. Too much to fit in your bin? Book a free collection online or call 02 9265 9333.

  • Or you could ...

  • Put in your compost bin

Compost or use a worm farm to turn your food scraps and garden waste into rich soil. Learn how at free workshops run by Green Villages and the Green Living Centre.

  • Donate to your local community garden

Check with your local community garden to see if they can use your donation. If it’s soil, you could also donate it as it is or bag it up and post it online for free on Gumtree, Freecycle or TuShare.

  • Throw in your Garbage Bin

Too bad this can’t be recycled or reused! Pop general waste into your bin with the red lid.
